We went on vacation in the Pocono's in July of 1999. In and around this area are at least five or six different candle makers around selling lower priced candles. They all smelled better than the big chain companies and were a lot cheaper. Leaving out the important information, they showed us how to pour candles. Two months after we returned, Steph had emergency surgery to remove one of her ovaries that had grown a cyst and it twisted causing her a lot of pain. After the surgery, she was out of work for over a month. Boredom took over and she started to research how to make candles. Like any woman with free time, this was costing me money. After a month of research we purchased the supplies and started making some candles. In the beginning, we made regular 16 oz jars. The wax was mushy, the color was bad and we were limited to Mulberry (which my niece's said smelled like Trix cereal). We kept testing and playing with the different mixtures until we finally reached some headway. That Christmas, I brought some votives to work for my co-workers at Albany Medical Center. The responses were: "John, those candles were excellent, you should sell them." We continued our search for the mixture we wanted and testing different scents and recipes. We have to thank my mother, my sisters Donna and Lisa and my sister-in-law Julia for their endless testing and honest opinions about what worked and what didn't. September 16th 2001, we had our first Craft Fair and it was a great success (I also posted the photos from this show on the Photo’s page). Well, here we are now.
We have a great time making everything and we hope you enjoy our products. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact us by phone at (518) 356-6644 or Email Us!
We love to hear your comments and/or suggestions. Thank you and God Bless.
